Briefly: The Florida Supreme Court on Monday approved a recreational marijuana constitutional amendment on which voters will decide in the November 2024 election.

So Basically: The proposal, headed to the November ballot, would legalize personal use of marijuana products and marijuana accessories by Florida adults.

What It Means: If approved by at least 60% of the voters in November, beginning in May 2025, anyone 21 or older will be allowed to possess 3 ounces of cannabis (or 5 grams of marijuana concentrates).

Why It Matters: Florida is among the largest and most lucrative medical marijuana markets in the U.S. Imagine if a legal adult-use market is approved this coming November.

Briefly: Institutional Shareholder Services has recommended that Canopy shareholders vote to approve the creation of exchangeable shares to further the advancement of Canopy USA. 

What Happened: Institutional Shareholder Services recommended that shareholders vote in favor of the amendments to the company’s articles of incorporation which would allow for the acceleration of its entry into the U.S.

Why It Matters: “Support for this proposal is warranted. Although approval of this proposal would create an additional class of non-voting securities,we determined that this proposal will help it remain compliant with applicable U.S. federal law,” Institutional Shareholder Services stated in its report.

What Next: If approved, Canopy USA will hold all of the U.S. cannabis investments and enable Canopy USA to exercise rights and acquire Acreage Holdings, Inc., Mountain High Products, LLC, Wana Wellness, LLC and The Cima Group, LLC and Lemurian, Inc.
