Briefly: Is White House drug czar Rahul Gupta a little too bullish on the impact of rescheduling?
So Basically: In a recent interview, Gupta shared his insight on the possible effects of the Biden administration’s move to reschedule marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III under the Controlled Substances Act.
So Then: In addition to removing "barriers to critical research and perhaps drug development," leading to "more research into the benefits of medical marijuana," rescheduling would "have a historic and long-lasting impact," Gupta said.
So What: Some argue this may be an overstatement. Marijuana Moment's Kyle Jaeger said this was the second time that Gupta "oversimplified the idea of marijuana's potential availability as a prescription drug."
